Monday - Our First Workday

Greetings and Blessings from S.A., dear family, prayer partners and friends!  What a wonderful first day of work we had.  God provided the most beautiful weather- sunshine, and warm breezes- perfect for mixing dugga(concrete) and laying brick to construct walls within the Mosaic community.  Though the local workers are far more experienced than we, they're patient and helpful with our team.   Mosaic's inspiring and gracious leader, Meyer Conradie, gave us our work initiation this morning at the job site and we then set about building walls for the next two Mosaic community homes.  It's so humbling to think about the  folks who will, sooner rather than later, call these spaces their homes- a new, dry dwelling that will have plumbing and electricity.  Though we may risk taking this for granted, our efforts will ultimately result in a dream come true for two more families!

On this trip and for the construction of these next homes, we have a wonderful combination of experienced South Africa missionaries as well as new ones. For the longer-timers, it's wonderful to try and see things from the perspective of those who are experiencing all of this for the time!
Tonight we're weary and will surely suffer some aching parts as we head off to our rooms for rest.  That said, there is so much more in store for us as we go from day to day.   We thank God that the day was well-spent, injury-free, and spirit-filled.  All are looking forward to what the upcoming days have in store.

Your prayers are so deeply appreciated.  Stay tuned for more to come.

  1. All of the pictures are great, showing hard work, beautiful country, meaningful relationships being built. But, the best picture is Vicki with all those beautiful kids. Thanks for posting!
